Follow-Up Care Implant Restoration

Once your implant has been inserted by the surgeon, follow his instructions and report any abnormalities immediately in his practice. Our final restoration phase begins as soon as the surgeon gives us the okay to continue. This is usually the case 3-6 months after inserting the implant. If you have a provisional prosthesis from our practice, please call us if you have any problems with it.

Fixed implant care

Your dentures are cemented to an abutment attached to your implant with a screw. Care was taken to ensure that the screw is properly tightened so that it does not loosen. In rare cases, these screws can loosen. It is important to notify us if you have the impression that the tooth is moving. This can indicate that the holding screw loosens. Loose screws can break and are difficult or impossible to remove.

If your supply is a single crown or a bridge with multiple teeth that do not come out of your mouth, follow these instructions:

It is also important that you come to the dental check-up regularly so that we can check the implant supply. Maintain the gum tissue around the implant with normal brushing and dental floss. If you bleed lightly or inflamed the gum tissue, you should use warm salt water rinsing 3-4 times a day. If the problem is not resolved within 3-4 days, call our practice. Immediately report excessive bleeding or swelling in the area of the implant. DO NOT USE TOOTHPICKS OR OTHER METAL SUBSTANCES AROUND THE IMPLANT. This could seriously damage the implant. There are implant-safe instruments that we can recommend when additional cleaning aids are needed. The crowns attached to your implants require the same care as a normal crown. Do not chew ice cream as this can break the porcelain. Be careful when eating very hard foods and don't try to open or tear objects with your teeth.

Please call us if you have any further concerns.
